What Happens During a Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

After an exam has determined that a patient’s wisdom teeth need to come out, the procedure will involve the following:

Dr. Alhamdi will use local anesthetic to numb the area around a tooth

He’ll make a small incision in the gums to expose the tooth

After removing any bone still holding onto the tooth, he’ll extract the tooth itself

The treatment site will be closed using self-dissolving sutures.

Over the course of a week or less and with the help of prescription pain medication, most patients are back to feeling normal and able to eat whatever they like.
